Understanding Pre-employment Screenings

Preventing employee theft, workplace violence, fraudulent workers compensation claims and lawsuits are all key reasons to conduct pre-employment screenings.  However, there is much more to the process than just a criminal background check.  Pre-employment screenings, if conducted correctly, can help give you a better understanding of the potential employee’s history and trends for the future.  Hiring is the process of learning as much as you can about a person’s past in order to help predict their future success. Although there are no guarantees in hiring, using a qualified private investigation firm to conduct a thorough screening will give you more information than a resume and employment application.

A complete pre-employment screening may contain some or all of the following:

Criminal records searches require diligence, attention to detail and knowledge to be complete accurate. Beware the websites that promise that they will "find out anything about anyone".  Because of the nature of how public records can be entered into databases, it takes interpretation and experience to provide accurate results.  We strive to make sure we are providing the most accurate information possible to our clients.  


Pre-employment screenings are considered Investigative Consumer Reports in that State of California and are regulated by both the FCRA (Fair Credit Reporting Act) and the ICRAA (Investigative Consumer Reporting Agency Act).  We will guide you through the forms and materials needed to comply with federal and state regulations.
